SO MANY WAYS CONTEST OVERVIEW
We want you to help start the conversation by making your own So Many Ways video.
By choosing the mask or sock and entering your safety message, you can win the chance to have yours played in the cinema, and for a draw for one of two Apple IPads. The contest will run starting August 13th, 2010 until midnight, November 30th, 2010. One Apple IPad will be randomly drawn on September 20th, 2010 and the other on November 30th, 2010. The cinema spot winner(s) will be chosen by December 10, 2010.
OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES
Sponsor: Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia (WCB) (referred hereafter as the Sponsor).
The So Many Ways Contest will allow individuals to create a video by choosing one of the two video options: “Sock” or “Mask” and adding their own safety message. The entries must not contain any profanity.
ELIGIBILITY
1. The competition is open to legal residents of Nova Scotia that are 16-25 years of age and shall be construed and evaluated according to Canadian law. Do not enter this contest if you are not a legal resident of Canada. No purchase is necessary. This contest is void where prohibited by law.
2. Minors: Contest winners who have not reached the age of eighteen (18) as of the date of their entry into the Contest must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian or other responsible adult in order to enter the Contest and must have the parent or legal guardian sign the consent form that will be sent after the winners are contacted, before prizes are delivered.
3. Employees and directors of the WCB, and the WCB’s respective agencies and their respective officers, directors, employees and agents and members of their immediate families (parent, child, sibling, spouse and their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) and households, whether or not related, are not eligible to enter or win.
HOW TO ENTER
3. To enter the Contest, create your video at somanyways.ca.
a. Contest opens on August 13th, 2010, with 2 Apple iPads to be randomly drawn - one on September 20th, 2010 and the other on November 30th, 2010. The cinema spot winner (s) will be chosen by December 10, 2010.
b. By participating, entrants agree to these Official Rules and the decisions of the judges, which are final and binding in all matters relating to this contest.
c. Originality: All entries must be original, unpublished and created solely by the submitting entrant(s) and not violate intellectual property rights, copyright or right of privacy of any third party, and must not have been submitted in any other competition.
d. The winning entrants must provide a signed “Statement of Eligibility, Release of Liability and Prize Acceptance” form. These materials must be received by the Sponsor within ten (10) days of notification. If all materials are not received within ten (10) days, or if the winner notification is returned undeliverable, or if the winner is found to be ineligible or not in compliance with these Official Rules, disqualification will result.
e. Standards: Each Submission must be suitable for display and publication on the Website (i.e., may not be obscene or indecent, including but not limited to nudity, pornography or profanity); it must not contain defamatory statements (including but not limited to words or symbols that are widely considered offensive to individuals of a certain race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation or socio-economic group), it must not include threats to any person, place, business, group or world peace. Entries should not inflict damage, harm or compromise the safety of those featured in or creating the submission.
WINNER SELECTION
4. JUDGING: All eligible entries will be included in the random draw for one of two Apple iPads. A committee of WCB employees will choose the winners of the cinema spots based on:
a. Incorporation of a safety message
b. Popularity
5. PRIZING: There will be 2 Apple iPad prizes awarded, as well as select participants who will be chosen by the WCB based on the content in their video, to have their spot in the cinema. One will be randomly drawn on September 20th, 2010 and the other on November 30th, 2010. The cinema spot winner(s) will be chosen by December 10, 2010.
a. Prizes are not transferable and cannot be assigned, redeemed for cash, exchanged nor substituted except where indicated, but the Sponsor reserves the right to substitute the prize with one of equal or greater value if the prize becomes unavailable for any reason, and, accepted as offered. The awarding of the prizes is at the judges’ sole discretion and the judges may, in their sole discretion, reserve the right to decide not to award prizes.
b. Delivery of Prize(s): Following receipt of the selected entrant’s signed declaration and release form, the Sponsor or its representatives will send the prizes to the Winners. Please allow four (4) to six (6) weeks for delivery.
6. GENERAL SPECIFICATIONS
a) Contest entries become property of the Sponsor upon receipt and will not be returned and no correspondence will be entered into except with selected entrants.
b) Any entry, which is the sole opinion of the Sponsor, that is deemed inappropriate for publishing on the Internet or otherwise, is ineligible.
c) In addition to the winning entry, the WCB reserves the right to post other selected entries on the somanyways.ca website and the WCB Young Worker Facebook site. Contest entries will be posted on the somanyways.ca website and the WCB Young Worker Facebook site, and become the property of the Sponsor.
d) Online Account Holder Information: In the event of a dispute regarding who submitted an online entry, the Entry will be deemed submitted by the authorized account holder of the email address, submitted at the time of entry. “Authorized account holder” is defined as the natural person who is assigned to an email address by the Internet access provider, online service provider or other organization that is responsible for assigning email addresses for the domain associated with the submitted email address. Selected entrants may be requested to provide the Sponsor with proof that they are the authorized account holder of the email address associated with the winning entry.
7. PRIVACY: By entering this contest, all entrant(s) agree to the Sponsor’s use of
entrant(s) personal information for the purposes of contest winner selection. All entrants understand on entering that Nova Scotia’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIPOP) applies to all information associated with this contest.
8. These are the official Contest Rules. This contest is subject to appropriate federal, provincial and municipal laws and regulations. The Sponsor reserves the right to amend the contest rules without prior notification.
9. RELEASE AND EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY:
By the entrants: By entering or attempting to enter the Contest, each entrant and/or purported entrant agrees: (i) to release, discharge, and forever hold harmless the Sponsors, and their respective officers, directors, employees, shareholders, agents and other representatives (collectively, the “Releasees”) from any and all claims, actions, damages, demands, manner of actions, causes of action, suits, debts, duties, accounts, bonds, covenants, warranties, indemnities, claims over, contracts and liabilities of whatever nature or kind arising out of, or in connection with the entrant’s participation or attempted participation in the contest, compliance or non-compliance with these contest rules and acceptance and use of the prize; and (ii) if selected as a potential Winner, to sign the Sponsor’s form(s) of declaration and release documentation in this regard before receiving his/her prize. The Releasees will not be responsible for lost, incomplete, late or misdirected entries or for any failure of the Contest website during the Contest Period, or for any technical malfunction or other problems with, any telephone network or lines, computer on-line systems, servers, access providers, computer equipment or software or for any technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website, or any combination of the foregoing, and will not be liable for any resulting injury or damage to any person or property arising from, or relating to, that person’s or any other person’s participation or attempted participation in the Contest. Any attempt to deliberately damage any website or to undermine the legitimate operation of this Contest is a violation of criminal and civil laws and, should such an attempt be made, the Sponsor reserves the right to seek remedies and damages to the fullest extent permitted by law, including criminal prosecution.
a) Minors: Where the selected entrant is under the age of majority in his/her province of residence, as a pre-condition to the selected entrant being declared a Winner and receiving a prize, the parent or legal guardian of the minor (where applicable) must sign and return the Sponsor’s form(s) of declaration and release documentation.
b) Name/Image of Winners: By entering the Contest, each Winner authorizes the Sponsor and its advertising and promotional agencies and their respective employees or other representatives to broadcast, publish and otherwise use his or her name, photograph, image, statements regarding the Contest or any prize, place of residence and (or) voice for publicity purposes, without any form of remuneration.
c) Communication with entrants: No communication or correspondence will be entered into with entrants, other than with entrants who are selected as potential prize Winners.
d) Personal Information: The personal information gathered about entrants in connection with this Contest will be used solely for the administration of the Contest. All such information is subject to Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws and regulations. No communication unrelated to the Contest, commercial or otherwise, will be sent to the entrant by the Sponsor, unless the entrant has otherwise been requested to do so by the Sponsor or one of its affiliates, as the case may be, to do so.
e) Identity of the Entrant: For the purposes of these rules, the entrant is the name that appears on the Entry Form. It is to this entrant that the prize will be awarded if selected and declared as the Winner.
